This course focuses on the definition and qualities of a servant leadership approach. In the context of contemporary leadership, great women are currently the catalysts of powerful and emergent forms of leadership such as Appreciative Inquiry, Relational Leadership, Caring Leadership, and Servant Leadership. In the presence of an authentic servant-leader the strengths of our humanity begin to rise and our ability to live in soulful and significant ways leads us to new vistas of health and understanding.
The heart of the servant-leader is a light to which others are drawn, and in which others become wiser, stronger, more free, more autonomous and better able to serve others. In working together toward a deeper understanding of servant-leadership and each other, today's program engages the art of leadership through dialogue, film, crucial discernments, laughter, and a sense of joy! Some of the most important characteristics of the servant-leader are discussed, and images of servant-leaders who live and lead in the family, the organizational culture, the arts, and on national and world levels are presented.
In the words of the great Lebanese poet, Kahlil Gibran, servant-leaders are "strong of soul."
