2009 Presidents Caucus: Helping You Hit a Grand Slam for Your Chapter

"Presidents Caucus was especially beneficial to me as I met all the incoming presidents and got to know them and learn more about their Chapters. All of the information in President's Caucus was invaluable and I learned a great deal that will help me as I start this month."
Marva Weir, EWI Kansas City

The incoming 2009-2010 Presidents truly stepped up to the place this year for the annual EWI President's Caucus. This extensive leadership training session was also opened up to the incoming Vice President/President-elects for the first time.

Participants were welcomed by the present and incoming Corporate Board members. The Opening Reception included several ice breakers centered on this year's baseball theme. Interacting in casual and fun ways bonded the group and paved the way for idea sharing and exchanging of information the next day.

"Lori G. is truly motivating. Her message, 'You are the lens every member, every firm, sees EWI through' was very impactful to me. My theme this year in our Chapter will be 'endless possibilities.' Seeing the video 'Stand by Me,' created by one man with a dream, gave me wings and a belief that we can soar this year. No matter how great or how small, everything we do can create impact in our community and support the message of EWI. It was a wonderful experience and I highly recommend that all Presidents and Vice Presidents take advantage of the opportunity to be inspired, motivated and energized by the President's Caucus next year."
Kerry Feltenberg, EWI Phoenix

The first full day of the Presidents Caucus focused on Chapter Operations by emphasizing EWI's new branding initiatives, financial reporting, legal responsibilities, and gaining new insights into Corporate resources. Each incoming Board member prepared an "inning" of information. And of course, there was the ever-popular seventh-inning stretch with popcorn and treats to add some energy to the remainder of the afternoon.

The second day of President's Caucus, Lori Giovannoni, EWI Salt Lake City, presented the Academy of Leadership entitled "Professional and Volunteer Leadership: Thinking like a Genius." This module was designed to empower business, volunteer, and community leaders with the skills needed to be effective and to enact change. Topics included: Discovering the Unique Traits of a True Leader; Inspiring Creativity as a Professional and Volunteer Leader; Initiating Change and Enhancing the Culture and Thinking and Leading "Out of the Box." As a member of EWI, Lori has a unique ability to apply this leadership course to EWI's organizational culture. The participants spent a great deal of time in the afternoon sharing best practices.

"Every Vice President/President Elect should attend EWI President's Caucus because it offers you additional guidance for the coming year to prepare your heart and your mind for the following year. For the second day of President's Caucus . The President's Caucus was invaluable. It truly was the 'sticky paper' we needed to connect to other EWI Chapters and incoming presidents. The Caucus allowed us to exchange ideas and learn more about the role the President must play in order for the Chapter to be successful. I want to be the best president possible for Chattanooga. Presidents Caucus has given me the knowledge and the Chattanooga Chapter has given their trust, strength and friendship to help me attain success. Now, I have to step up to the plate and hit a home run!"
Margaret Browning, EWI Chattanooga

Vice President/President-Elect representatives attending this year's Caucus will be using what they have learned to prepare for the coming year.

At the conclusion of the Caucus, President Anderson challenged the Chapter leaders to be champions: "A champion is, according to Wikipedia, one who is outstandingly skilled in his or her field." You qualify as one of those champions and will bring outstanding skills to your Chapters. Our goal at the corporate level focuses on what you will be taking home from the Caucus—an enhanced ability to lead your Chapter members and to invigorate those future leaders within your Chapter. The bases are loaded. This will be your chance to hit a grand slam for your Chapter!"
