EWI and the 1,000 Year Nashville Flood
Wednesday, May 19, 2010
I am sure you have heard on the news about the 13-20 inches of rainfall May 1 & 2 that fell in a deluge from Mississippi to Kentucky, hitting the Nashville area and surrounding counties with a devastating impact. Our beautiful and historic downtown and vast areas throughout the city were flooded when the 3 rivers overflowed from rain and forced release from our 3 dams. The Opry House, Opryland Hotel, LP Field home of the Titans, The Country Music Hall of Fame and many others were flooded. Businesses, homes, 23 public schools and many private schools were completely flooded, damaged or destroyed. Some bridges and roads are impassable, electricity and water are not available in many parts of town. Nashville only has 1 water treatment plant working and we are asked to consume half of our daily water supply.
Our chapter wants to donate a monetary gift through either a foundation or a direct gift to a suffering family. Thousands of homes were completely flooded and very few people had flood insurance. We have had inquiries from several chapters and if you or your chapter would like to join our effort and donate to this Flood Relief drive we would be very grateful.
Please make out your check to Nashville Chapter EWI Flood Relief and send to:

Please remember the flood victims and those wonderful Tennessee Volunteers in your prayers. Thank you so much.
